Spring 2018
/Do not follow Google Earth from Ciudad Insurgentes to Scorpion Bay. It will direct you past the Las Barrancas turn off toward La Purisima, across the arroyo and onto 16 miles of dirt road. You will arrive eventually, but some get stuck or were unnecessarily delayed. To stay on pavement, take the turn off to La Barrancas. Follow the signs to San Juanico.
The Cantina beside the house is open serving food and drinks 7:30 AM to 9:30 PM daily. The new dining palapa is in place where the dining tent once stood.
Thursday, May 10th is Mother's Day in Mexico. In San Juanico, this holiday is more important than others. There is a party in town where mothers are honored and gifts and prizes are given. The Cantina is closed on Mother's Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day.
The bathhouse has been renovated with exterior paint and a new palapa roof. Inside are new mirrors, sinks, faucets, toilet stall doors and toilet seats. After twenty years of trucking water, the campground is now connected to municipal water. Water conservation is still necessary and important.
Solar Panels were installed in the winter of 2016 and the drone of the diesel generator is mostly absent.
